Progressive Cheverly is an organization of area neighbors concerned about the future of our community, state, country and world and who believe that the promise of a fair, sane and safe world will happen only with a more informed, engaged and active citizenry.

We maintain an active program of education, advocacy and electoral work.  For our educational work, we host regular forums open to all on a wide range of relevant topics with top-flight speakers, including an active give and take with the audience; we host candidate forums during election years, and we bring our elected officials into our community for a chance to talk face to face.

Our advocacy has spanned many issues and different levels of government over the life of our organization. A few examples include our work to improve health care in Prince George's County, fighting for land use decisions and development that benefits local communities, advocacy in the Maryland General Assembly year after year for economic and social justice, and promoting the move toward environmental sustainability through efforts in our local community. Wherever possible we join in coalitions with other organizations to achieve our goals.

Our occasional electoral work involves volunteer support for select candidates that our members have endorsed based on their commitment to the values and principles we hold dear.

Generally we meet monthly, but not in the summer months. Join our Announcements List to receive meeting and activities announcements.  To become a member of Progressive Cheverly, visit our membership page. As a membership benefit, we maintain a separate on-line Discussions List for members to participate in conversations about issues affecting our community.

More information about our organization is available by clicking the buttons on the left.  Join your friends and neighbors as we make our community a better place for all. For our upcoming activities, see our Calendar of Events.
